North Lake Tahoe Bonanza: The Incline After School Organization (IAO) swim and dive team kicks off its fourth season today at the Incline Village Recreation Center. Aside from the normal developmental swimming activities, the program will offer a competitive component this year. Both activities take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday.
Those interested in the development swim and dive team should be in grades three through eight and have some ability to swim one length across the pool in any stroke, said IAO spokesperson Chris Laramore. Students will learn all four strokes and proper techniques. All diving will be from the blocks or the side of the pool until spring, when more advanced dives from the diving board are taught.
Those interested in competitive swim team should be in grades six through 12 and have some ability to swim one stroke fairly well. Students will learn competitive technique, such as flip turns, and the increasing workouts will be leading to a competitive swim meet in February.
